The Latest at Casa Harden

If you read my everyday blog Wild, Wicked & Wacky, you know about last week's basement flood. DH and I need to sort and inventory the irretrievably damaged items for the insurance company over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

I'm not sure yet what this will do to the release of A Cup of Conflict.

The writing has been on a damn good roll over the month. It's Anthea, and I swear she squats on my brain until her books are delivered to you. But we're both cursing up a storm at this latest interruption because it was beyond either of our control.

(And the chief justice of Orrin really wishes she could manifest in my reality and electrocute the people who are actually responsible.)

Anyway, for those of you checking the Release Schedule and the Justice Series pages, that's why I haven't set up the preorder for Book 10 yet.

I promise to keep you updated. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed it won't be delayed. It might mean going to a hotel after we've dealt with the damn basement.

Status Report

Those of you who've preordered A Virtue of Child should have or will get an e-mail from Amazon saying the release date has been delayed two weeks until February 28th.

The reasons are many, but I want to make sure this story is done right. For those who've read A Twist of Love, Chief Justice Anthea obtained an artifact that in this upcoming volume is driving her batcrap crazy. It's a delicate balance. (Pun intended.)

It didn't help that as I was trying to write this, the United States was going through its own madness. But things are settling, and I rather like the boring news coming out of D.C. again.

Further more, I'm only doing preorders for the Justice series and 888-555-HERO for right now. As those of you who prefer print know, I'm behind on getting paperbacks out. I want to catch up on those before I go full bore on Soccer Moms of the Apocalypse, and for that series, I want to write all four books before I drop them. Not to mention, I need to fix the Millersburg Magick Mysteries and re-release them.

That's not to say you won't have reading fixes between novels. I'm sticking a couple of short story collections together for the spring. Why collections?

After the madness of 2020, I need a bit of a breather to get reorganized and productive according to my own standards. In the meantime, I'll drop chapters on my blog per normal.

A Major WHOOPS!

Justice: The Beginning should have been out by now. *sigh* The best laid plans of mice and men...

I sent the file to the formatter two weeks ago. She sent me back a formatted Kindle file. I looked it over, found a hand full of typos that slipped by the editor, and sent the revisions back to her. She was backed up and couldn't get back to my stuff until the holiday weekend. At which point, I said, "Spend time with your family. We'll pick this up after the Fourth of July."

So I get an e-mail from her yesterday. The page count is too small for the printer for the paperback edition. WHOOPS!

Now we could have gone through a lot of trials and tribulations to make the print interior work, but there would still be the issue of my cover designer of jumping through hoops to make her side work, too. My formatter said she'd do whatever I wanted.

So I raided the chocolate stash and thought about it. Talked to my business partner (aka Darling Husband), and he agreed with me.

I e-mailed my formatter and asked, "What if I add another story to the collection, resend the master file to you, and you start over from scratch?"

Her reply? "Works for me."

On the plus side, you readers will get four stories for your money, not three. And you'll get a beautifully-formatted paperback if you so desire.

On the minus side, it'll take another two or three weeks longer to get the anthology into your hands.

What's the fourth story about, I hear you ask? I figured since "The Perfect Partner" told how Justice Anthea and Brother Luc first met, then it would be neatly book-ended by the tale of how Shi Hua became Ambassador Quan's bodyguard.

There Will Be a Slight Delay

For those of you asking about Seasons of Magick: Summer, it will not be out on July 25th as I planned.  It's totally my fault.  I over-committed to things, and did not adequately plan my time.  The last thing I want is to put up a product that is not my 100% best.  As soon as I have a definite release date, I will be sure to post it.
