Warning!! Price Changes!!

GAH! The tariffs are starting to hit publishers and printing.

Despite the cost of paper going up two years ago, I managed to keep my paperback prices the same. But now, I'm not having a choice. I received a notice from Ingram that several of my books will require price increases because the price of paper is rising dramatically.

It sucks. I don't want to do it, but I don't have a choice. Either I raise the prices, or I cannot offer paperbacks for sale. *sigh*

I get it. A lot of you prefer the tactility of having a book in your hand.

So, if you want a paperback, order it now before the prices go up. My formatter is currently updating the front matter (Angry Sheep Publishing transforming from a sole proprietorship to an LLC) and back matter (i.e. list of books I have available). So, I'll be uploading those as she sends them to me.

In other words, I'll be starting on the price changes next week. This is the first time I've needed to raise all prices since I started publishing in 2011.

If you've been planning to buy a paperback, I suggest ordering now from your favorite bookseller.

Writing, Writing, Writing and Some Updates

We had three weekdays of quiet in a row, which has helped me get a handle on A Hand of Father. I hit the midpoint of the novel late Monday night, so I'm feeling fairly confident on getting it written and edited before I need to upload it.

Tomorrow and Friday will be a bit crazy with workmen going to and fro. I'll take Princess Bella to the sister-in-law's house so she doesn't try to supervise the workers too much. This means I will be able to take a hot shower this weekend and give the princess a long overdue bath.

On a positive note for those of you waiting on paperbacks, I'm getting the paperback interiors and covers from my peeps for last year's novels and collections. Once I've uploaded A Hand of Father, I can upload those files to my distributor. So if you've been wanting a particular paperback, they should be available at the end of the month.

Then it's a matter of getting the rest of THIS YEAR'S novels and collections formatted and uploaded. The goal is to get everything up to date by A Very HERO Wedding's release in October because I have special plans for Halloween with a handsome young man.

Quick Update!

For those of you waiting for your paperback copies of Resurrected, they are going out in today's mail. I really apologize for the delay, but I had an unexpected out-of-state trip at the beginning of November. I didn't want to order the books and have them show up on my doorstep when we weren't home.

Especially since we ended up getting four and a half inches of snow.

Again, sorry for the delay, and I hope you enjoy your signed copies.

(For those of you who want an opportunity to receive signed books from me, please sign up for my newsletter. Tap the CONTACT ME tab on the website menu and type in you deets.)

Catching Up with the Joneses Part 2

Sacrificed is finally live on Barnes & Noble. Also the trade paperback is for sale on Amazon and slowly filtering to other bookstores.

So the last little bit of production for 2018 is complete, and I'm gearing up for a fabulous 2019!

Catching Up with the Joneses

Finally, A Modicum of Truth is up on Barnes and Noble's website. Also, the trade paperback version should be available by the end of the week.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the second one because Amazon and CreateSpace are merging their databases. As a former IT professional who has dealt with much smaller databases, it's a pain in the ass. Amazon/CreateSpace are looking to integrate MILLIONS of transactions. I feel very sorry for their IT people right now.

P.S. The November short story will be posted on Monday. If you want to read October's story, read it before the end of the weekend!

The Ravaged Paperback Is Now Available!

For those of you who love having a hardcopy of a book, Ravaged is now available in trade paperback! You can buy it online through Amazon or Barnes & Noble. If you want to support your local bookstore, you can have them order it for you.

Right before the holidays, a reader asked why the paperback version is so much more expensive than the e-book for my titles. Unfortunately, it comes down to production and transportation costs.

For an e-book, downloading a few MBs of data is relatively inexpensive for me as the publisher. I pay the retailer a percentage of the cover price to host my book on their commercial website (and that fee covers their computers and personnel) and an additional few cents to transmit the book to you when you buy it.

For a paper book, there're more hands in the pot. The printer charges X amount to print the book, which is generally based on the number of pages. They have to pay for the paper, the ink, the machines, and their employees. Then there's the distributor. They've got to pay for the trucks that carry the books, the fuel for the trucks, the warehouses where the books are stored, and their own employees. And finally the retailer in a brick and mortar store has to pay for rent, utilities, equipment, merchandise, and their own employees. All those little costs add up.

In the final accounting, Writer Me makes less money on a paperback than I do an e-book. And that's okay because I know what it's like to want to have a paper copy of the things you read over and over again. (Though in my case, I re-read my own books because I forgot to record something in the series bible and have to go look it up. LOL)

In the end, it doesn't matter which format you prefer. As long as you're happy with the story I wrote, then I'm happy.

In other news, I'll start posting chapters of Sacrificed next Wednesday. That novel will start 2018 with a bang!

We Have Covers!

I haven't made as much progress on projects as I would have liked the last three weeks. But despite the rash of miscommunication with my contractors (which I firmly blame on Mercury in retrograde) and another death in the family (which makes me sad because DH's aunts actually like me), forward motion has been made.

Paperbacks for Blood Magick and Zombie Love are now available. Zombie Wedding, Amish, Vamps & Thieves, and Blood Sacrifice should be up soon.

The Blood Sacrifice e-book with the cute formatting and new cover is finally available.

The page proofs for Sword and Sorceress 32 have been reviewed and returned to our lovely editor Elisabeth Waters. The e-book version is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

After a bunch of e-mail gremlins, Elaina Lee of For the Muse Design delivered this awesome cover for A Modicum of Truth. I think I'll pin this on the wall over my desk to inspire me as I finish the book.

Now it's time to plunge back into the edits for Ravaged.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

My First Paperback!

I know I haven't posted for the last month. I've been busy getting the last four books of the Bloodlines series written and edited. It's been nearly three years since the last novel came out, so I'm doing my damnedest to get the rest finished and *fingers crossed* published before the bells toll on New Year's Eve. Thank you to my readers for their patience!

In the meantime, my first paperback is now available!

Yep! Believe it or not, Justice: The Beginning is available in your local brick and mortar stores!

I've listed the links to a couple of the places it's available. If you want to give your favorite independent bookstore your business and they don't have it in stock, they can order it for you through Ingrams, one of the largest books distributors in the U.S.

Amazon
Barnes & Noble

For future reference, I plan on participating in Amazon's MatchBook Program. This means when you buy the paperback, you can get the e-book version free or at a greatly reduced price.

Just a little something extra to keep in mind down the road!
